You know, I never intended to be, like, a drama-farmer sort of person. For the most part, I genuinely do not care enough, and my reach is so pitiful, it wouldn’t matter if I did. But over the last several weeks and months, people that I have become – I would say – relatively close to (insomuch as you can become close to someone on an internet AI shitposting Discord server) have basically been dunked on by a company and it’s moderation teams (plural), for no reason other than she wanted control over her own guides, and she dared to inform other users that certain rules were going to change.

In my previous Janitor-related post, I sort of laid out a groundwork, going through the history of what led to everything being dogshit to the best of my knowledge, supported by information provided to me by the people who had been most impacted, in the form of screenshots and comedic paraphrasing. I’m done with that. This is now just pure hate-filled opinionated drivel. Feel free to skip this (like anyone is reading through my posts in sequential order, HA!), because it’s mostly going to be several paragraphs of insulting the Discord moderation team, the mods specifically, and likely the administrator and creator, Shep, for allowing this all to happen.

The Discord

Absolute dogshit. The moderation team are almost universally power-hungry, self-absorbed, scheming, conniving, backstabbing cunts. They’re they worst kind of moderators, the type of people that should never have power, because once they get a little taste – ooh yum yum yum – they decide they can’t ever give it up, that they should be the arbiters of what is right. And if someone upsets them, but doesn’t break any rules? Well, the rules are whatever they want them to be. Rules aren’t written down? Rules don’t even exist yet? Too bad dickhead, you should’ve read my mind and known the rules were coming. IDIOT.

The moderation team, as has been proven, has it out for people with a certain server tag. They don’t see us as individual people, they see us as some sort of shadowy hivemind, where the actions of one are the actions of all. Because of this, other, non-tagged users can more or less say what they want with impunity, but if a tagged user makes a joke, enjoy your ban, dickhead.

Alongside this, they have no self-awareness of how much they’re despised by the wider community, because they spend their time in their little mod circlejerk, scribbling usernames in a dollar-store Death Note, just on the off-chance it might actually work. They complain about how hard their ”’job”’ is (that most of them do for free), and yet can’t seem to wrap their head around the fact that they can just…stop. It’s not a fucking job, it’s a volunteer position.

This is what I meant when I said they can’t give up their power – if it was such a soul-crushing task, just fucking stop doing it for a week. I guarantee you the Discord won’t collapse without Void autistically being unable to detect an obvious joke and hovering their finger over the ‘Warn’ button, or Iroh going on a five paragraph spiel about how, no actually, he’s always, objectively, in the right, and how his job (because he actually does get paid, somehow) is so hard because he has a wife and kids and another REAL job, and still spends (allegedly) SIXTY TO EIGHTY HOURS A WEEK moderating the Discord somehow.

But no, taking a break for a week would mean giving up the power they so desperately try to hold onto. Taking a break for a week means people might forget who they are, or not respect them, so they continue to complain about how hard they have it, while doing nothing to change their situation.

Know Your Mods

This asshole is the generic Discord mod. He’s always right, and he ALWAYS has sixteen paragraphs of meaningless drivel to prove it. He can, and will, “Uhm, ackshually…” you into oblivion, twist anything to make himself look good, and straight-up lie, knowing that you can’t do or say anything to defend yourself (because you’re banned already).

I don’t call people fascists, because I think real fascism isn’t something that can be compared to internet drama, but Jesus Christ, if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, and bans people so they can’t defend themselves before attacking them in a public forum like a duck, then it’s probably Iroh cosplaying as a duck.

He’s also the type of cunt to play nice to your face, and then stab you in the back the instant he thinks he can benefit from it. Such is the case when he told a member of our server – literally the kindest and most helpful person in our OR the Janitor AI server – that she should apply for modship, and then, ooh, sorry bud, some people don’t like that server tag you’ve got on, then letting the whole banning situation play out, and THEN make a big post about how, no, actually it was all her fault all along, we were just helpless mods doing our job, holding back the tide of mean people who were making jokes and having fun.

Do not trust a single thing this man says. He needs his position to stay relevant, and likes being at the top of the stack.

Everything is just so hard for Void, you know? They run two businesses, and still need to moderate this Discord server. It turns out they also need to steal content from people, run it through something like ChatGPT (allegedly), and then pass it off as their own content, while blatantly lying through their teeth that, no, it’s just pure coincidence that their guide is about 90% identical to the original one, just with some emojis changed and some words swapped for synonyms. The epitome of “Here’s my homework bro, just change it a bit so it’s not obvious.”

Habitually complains about how hard her task is. I empathise – it must be very difficult to wake up every day, log into Discord, and see people having fun. It would make me furious, if I, too, had a cold lump of coal in the place of my heart, a pure black engine running on nothing but spite and the screams of the unjustly banned. Throughout this, as mentioned above, refuses to take a break from her role, despite being unpaid.

One must imagine Sisyphus happy, and also in this case, one must also imagine Zeus telling Sisyphus “Alright, your torment is done, you can stop now,” and Sisyphus continuing to roll the boulder up the hill, and complain every time it rolls back down again, waxing poetical about how hard-done-by he is, while Zeus looks on, confused.

As I further come to learn about other mods and their habits, I will convert their idiosyncrasies into comedic paragraphs.

How to Lie for Fun and Profit!

Apart from them just being shitty people in general, the mod team – and I’m most familiar with Void and Iroh, through osmosis of other server members – habitually lies, because they know if they told the truth, the community would likely turn against them, at which point Shep will likely give them a spanking and call them naughty children.

Some of the various lies include, but are not limited to:

  • “Oh yeah we’re not targeting users with your server tag.”
  • “We really want you on the mod team!”
  • “None of the guides on the JanitorAI knowledge base contain stolen content.”
  • “Any guides that contain user-provided content will be credited.”
  • “Users with that server tag were banned for bad behaviour.”
  • “Users from that server were banned from Reddit for bad behaviour.”
  • “That rule was written in the #rules channel.”
  • “We haven’t colluded with bot creators to cover up or bury bullying of such a horrific degree that it led a member of our community to (at best) delete all of their content and leave our site permanently, or (at worst) genuinely commit suicide, because the bot creators who instigated it are so popular and have so many bots that it would tank our site, so we consider one (potentially) dead user a reasonable price to pay for the website to continue.”
    • Seriously, look into NicholasCS and LoveCapacity.
  • “I am a good person and deserve my position of responsibility.”

In Conclusion

The mods are scum who refuse to give up their power and would prefer to lie, cheat, steal and blacklist others before even daring to tell the truth, since they know it would tarnish their already-dogshit reputation even further, and the crumb of power they hold on a fucking AI gooner Discord is the only meager amount of control they have in their lives, and so will hold onto it with a death grip, innocent people be damned.

JanitorAI needs to die, as a website, and arguably as a community. It had its time, and it’s run rampant out of control, likely due to its 400,000-odd Discord members. Shep doesn’t deserve the investment, the mods don’t deserve their power, and my friends don’t deserve the abuse they have received at the hands of this moderation team.

Just let it die.
